The George Inlet Cannery

The George Inlet Cannery property is owned and operated by CFC. This historic landmark is truly impressive to see. The Cannery operated from 1913 until 1958 when salmon was in huge demand, and the Cannery had the inlet full of salmon outside. During its years of operation, the Cannery was a self-sustained community of 200 people. Today, you can see the little cove where the Cannery still sits, walk the great trails in the rain forest of the Tongass National Forest, and tour the original Cannery with all the original equipment inside. Together, with Allen Marine, we offer five to six “Taste of Alaska” tours of the Cannery a day during the tourism season. After each tour is complete, we recommend picking up an Alaska-made product at the Galley gift shop for a souvenir. The Cannery can also be booked as a venue for large events such as weddings.

Two entrepreneurial women started Sweet Mermaids because they loved mermaids, and they loved sweet pastries. If you have a sweet tooth or need a warm cup of delicious coffee, Sweet Mermaids is the place to be. It is a quaint bakery in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska.  Check out our Facebook page to learn more.
