Business Highlights
Corporate
- May 2024 – On May 19th, Clifford Blair and Cape Fox management representative boarded the Celebrity Edge cruise ship for the inauguration of the ship sailing in Alaska. CFC was invited by Royal Caribbean Group to join in the ceremony as a stakeholder from the community.
- CFC and CFT hosted the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA). The GVHA is a not-for-profit organization that owns and operates deep water, marina, and upland holdings throughout Victoria’s harbor in Canada. The GVHA started in 2002, and its properties are located on the traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən people.
- CFC won a grant of $1,764,522 from USDA/NRCS – EQIP: Environmental Quality Incentives Program – This has enabled us to have Pre-Commercial Thinning done on Cape Fox Lands, (lands management)
- CFC won a grant for $900,800 from USDA/USFS Temporary Bridge Program – For the purchase of bridges for Cape Fox Lands
- CFC maintains its rankings as a top Alaska business. For 2024, we ranked #28.
Commercial
- February 2024 – CFC represented at the 2024 Trend Alaska Fashion Show with original designs and creations by Jeremy Barrett, an employee of CFC.
- June 2024 – Ts’iingyimgm’aatk (Jeremy Barrett), along with artist Miilgm Ts’amtii (Michael Milne) participated in the Everyday Indigenous fashion show on June 7, 2024, in Juneau, Alaska. The artwork for the outfits was created by Michael, while Jeremy then put the artwork into fashion apparel. Miilgm Ts’amtii and Ts’iingyimgm’aatk are Ts’msyen Alaska Natives representing the Village Store. The Everyday Indigenous fashion show took place during Sealaska Heritage Institute’s Celebration 2024 in partnership with Goldbelt, Inc. Celebration is one of the largest cultural events in Alaska, drawing thousands to the four-day festival
- Cape Fox Tours (CFT) received the Adventure Green Alaska Certification through the Alaska Travel Industry Association
- CFT received a 2-year transportation contract for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines, our largest transportation contract to date.
- CFT launched a new tour (Deluxe Historic Cannery, Dungeness Crab Meal, and Beer Flight) with Experience Alaska Tours for Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity Cruise Line
- CFT Added 16 buses and 1 ADA van to the fleet.
- CFT started a new partnership with the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show to launch Harbor Haus Crab Feast tour for multiple cruise lines.
- Cape Fox Tours attended the 2024 Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) Annual Convention and Trade Show from October 22nd-24th. This is an exceptional event and Alaska’s largest annual gathering of tourism professionals.
- CFT participated in the Alaska Cruise & Travel Show in San Diego on November 9th.
- November 2024 – CFC and The Village Store are proud to announce that Jeremy Barrett participated in this year’s Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week. This event showcased the ingenuity of over 30 accomplished Indigenous fashion designers and offers each designer an exclusive platform to unveil their latest seasonal inspirations
- The Cape Fox Cultural Foundation has been offering workshops for the community to advance and learn cultural crafts and traditional Tlingit techniques. These “Open Workshops” are possible because of a grant from the Rasmuson Foundation for the furnishings, health, and safety supplies and the Alaska Council on the Arts, which provided funding for the materials and supplies. These workshops are open, so attendees can bring their beading, moccasins, aprons, and blanket projects. This is an opportunity for attendees to share their knowledge and techniques.
- CFCF was in the news again. The December issue of Alaska Business magazine featured CFCF in its Spread the Love article, which explores the topic of Alaska Native corporations’ community projects. CFCF is featured as a corporation devoted to thoughtful and meaningful philanthropy with a goal to revitalize culture through educating the youth and strengthening the community. - CFCF was in the news. On August 14, 2024, Shareholder and Board Member Kenneth “Kelly” White and Marcus Blair were given the opportunity to discuss CFCF on a local Ketchikan podcast, First City Forum hosted by Niles Corporon. This was an excellent chance to promote the CFCF workshops and the excellent work CFCF does to educate and provide resources on Tlingit culture and art.
Federal
- January 2024 – FCG relocated to a new state-of-the-art office in Chantilly, Virginia. The move will enable the company to expand its operations and provide outstanding service to its customers and employees.
- Concentric Methods become a Gold Seal of Approval re-certified Joint Commission company with a Health Care Staffing Services (HCSS) certification
- Eagle Health’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) contract reached a significant milestone in March when it served its 100th customer for that month at the Boyers, PA clinic.
- CFE was awarded its first contract vehicle with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Director of Operational Logistics (DOL) to provide food services to the U.S. Coast Guard Base in Ketchikan, Alaska.
- Eagle Health hosted an Occupational Health webinar each month with various health-related topics. This series provides topics and tips for employee physical, emotion, and financial success into the future.
- FCG hosted a Professional Development webinar each month. This series of webinars has provided a comprehensive learning experience for all Cape Fox employees. The program was designed to equip employees with advanced skills and knowledge, fostering personal and professional growth.
Philanthropy Highlights – Cape Fox Cares Program
- May 2024 – FCG hosted a Military Appreciation Month Fundraiser to support the United Service Organizations (USO)
- July 2024 – CFC supported our local first responders by donating to the Fairfax County Police Association
- July – August 2024 – FCG hosted its Back to School Fundraiser for the kids of West Gate Elementary School in Manassas, VA
- August 2024 – CFT was proud to have done a summer fundraiser for school supplies to donate to the Tlingit & Haida Head Start located in Saxman, Alaska. CFT raised up to $1000.00 in school supplies for students and teachers.
- October 2024 – Cape Fox Cultural Foundation (CFCF) had a busy fundraising month in October. CFCF October fundraising included three events: Fright Night at the Cannery, Opening Night for the high school edition of the Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and finally, the Whistlestop Tour 2024 celebrating the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree’s stop in Ketchikan. In total, CFCF raised $1600 from the cotton candy and fundraising sales.
- November 2024 – CFC hosted its annual Turkey Drive for Thanksgiving
- November 2024 – CFC partnered with the City of Saxman and Three Bears grocery store to hold a Warming Gifts fundraiser that supported the homeless and those in need in Saxman, Alaska
- November-December 2024 – CFC partnered with the City of Saxman for Coats for Kids for the 4th year in a row
- December 2024 – Eagle Health sponsored Toys for Tots for the 11th year
- December 2024 – CFC participated in a Christmas Food Drive
