For the second year in a row, Cape Fox Corporation (CFC) brought its unique style and art to the fashion world. On February 17, 2024, CFC participated in the 4th annual Trend Fashion Show in Anchorage, Alaska. Eight unique outfits were showcased. The artwork for the outfits was created by Miilgm Ts’amtii (Michael Milne) with John Trout providing design for one outfit. Ts’iingyimgm’aatk (Jeremy Barrett) then put the artwork into fashion apparel. Miilgm Ts’amtii, and Ts’iingyimgm’aatk are Ts’msyen Alaska Natives. CFC is delighted to participate in this splendid event again and to be able to exhibit the talent of the members of the CFC team and present the unique style, colors, and meanings illustrated in our Alaska Native art.

The Trend Fashion Show is an exclusive event that showcases Alaska’s artists and fashion designers. This is the fourth year the show has taken place. Each year, proceeds from the show are donated to a meaningful cause. This year’s event supported Victims for Justice, the only organization in Alaska that specializes in providing services for victims of violent crime. The.Village.Store helped raise over $250,000 with 22 other artists from Alaska for Victims For Justice.

CFC had eight designs on exhibit at this year’s show, which contained bold, Indigenous-inspired prints adorning the ready-to-wear line. This clothing collection included streetwear with designs inspired by inspired by Northwest Coast Art. Jeremy Barrett created the designs with the logo for Victims for Justice in mind, which uses a forget-me-not in the logo, naming his collection the Spirit of the Forget-Me-Not. This year, Jeremy also commissioned a drum with one of the designs on the clothing for the auction at the end of the show.

Jeremy has stood out for his talent and commitment to his Ts’msyen Alaska Native culture. Tim Lewis, President of Cape Fox Commercial Services, recently remarked on Jeremy’s passion and effort, “I just want everyone to know this has been 100% Jermey’s vision and dedication to the culture he is part of.  He has imagined this and seen it through on his own.  There are few people out there who could do this with zero background in the fashion industry whatsoever. I have had the pleasure to watch Jeremy grow into what he is today. It really is a rewarding part of my job to see someone grow as he has.”

Next, the talented CFC team will participate in a music video for C.L.A.N, which stands for “Changing Life All Around The Nations,” and consists of two brothers who use their music to spread a message of unity, energy, and peace. Jeremy and his design team will also participate in the Everyday Indigenous fashion show on June 7, 2024, in Juneau, Alaska. The Everyday Indigenous fashion show will take place during Sealaska Heritage Institute’s Celebration 2024 in partnership with Goldbelt, Inc. Celebration is one of the largest cultural events in Alaska, drawing thousands to the four-day festival. It is the largest gathering of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people in the world and an excellent platform to showcase the talents of Jeremy, Michael, and their entire team. There will be 12 outfits showcased at this year’s event. Anyone interested in modeling for the upcoming Everyday Indigenous fashion show should contact Jeremy at (907) 821 1430 or email jbarrett@capefoxlodge.com.
